Background

The N1A, the creation from Nichols Cars, took centre stage at its UK public debut last weekend. At the renowned Bicester Heritage Scramble, the lightweight, Can-Am-inspired British sports car captured the admiration of automotive and motorsport enthusiasts. This comes after its exclusive online launch earlier this Summer.

Designed by the brilliant mind of engineering genius and renowned Formula One driver Steve Nichols, accompanied by a distinguished group of suppliers and manufacturers, the N1A showcases the timeless elegance of motorsport’s glory days while also embracing innovation for the future. Drawing inspiration from the iconic Can-Am racers from the 1960s and incorporating cutting-edge advancements, this remarkable vehicle boasts a sleek, lightweight body weighing in at just 900 kg and comes equipped with a powerful 7.0-litre V8 engine (standard in the launch edition) and minimal driver assistance, all meticulously crafted with utmost precision.

Unveiled in a private preview after its digital debut in July, Nichols Cars’ stand at Bicester Heritage not only showcased the car, but also provided an opportunity to meet the team, including Steve Nichols and the N1A’s key engineers. Making its first public appearance, the car was displayed among other classic vehicles at the vast Bicester Heritage location. The N1A seamlessly fit in with the surrounding exhibitors at the Sunday Scramble event.

John Minett, CEO of Nichols Cars, said: “What a weekend. The Sunday Scramble was the ideal location for the public debut of the N1A and we [the team] have been so humbled and appreciative of the support of attendees – and those cheering on from further afar – with the launch of the N1A.

Known for its vibrant community of experts, artisans, and companies committed to preserving, upkeeping, and honoring vintage automobiles, Bicester Heritage attracts a crowd of collectors and car buffs alike. Each event brings a fresh mix of classic yet innovative vehicles that captivate the hearts and minds of attendees. The N1A found a perfect opportunity at the Sunday Scramble, as it provided a prime setting to connect with an enthusiastic and well-informed audience who shared a genuine appreciation for the car’s ingenuity and artistry.

Philip White, associate director ‑ brand and marketing of Bicester Heritage, said: To see and hear the Nichols Cars N1A make such a launch at Bicester Heritage was fabulous; the display was abuzz with enthusiasts all day. Clearly this is only the beginning for the Nichols [Cars] team, and it is a privilege to have played a part in that. Hopefully, it is also the beginning of Bicester Heritage and Nichols Cars, too, and we will get to see more of the N1A at events in future.”

Prospective buyers or sellers interested in scheduling a viewing of the N1A, which can be added to any collection, are encouraged to inquire through the Nichols Cars website. With a total production of 100 vehicles (including 15 for the launch edition), this sleek sports car boasts a powerful 7.0-litre all-alloy V8 engine (featured in the launch edition) and customizable interior, making it a dream for motorsport enthusiasts who love the thrill of driving. Deliveries for the first customers will begin in Q2 2024 and after seeing it in person over the weekend, we can guarantee it will not disappoint.
